Risk information services for DRM in the Caribbean
The World Bank actively supports Disaster Risk Reduction in the Caribbean Region with the objective to strengthen the regional and national capacity of the governments to reduce landslide and flood hazard risk. Satellite-derived information will support developing national flood and landslides hazard mapping in the five target countries: Belize, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada. The services provided include:(1) Land use and land cover maps using Rapid Eye and Pleiades imagery, (2) Hazard mapping including up-to-date landslide inventory, (3) Digital Elevation Models (low resolution DEM derived from ASTER imagery, high resolution DEM derived from SPOT imagery and precise DEM derived from Pleiades imagery). |
